The kick-off event of the National Public Awareness Campaign to End Modern-Day Slavery in Canada and book launch of Invisible Chains with author Benjamin Perrin took place in Toronto on Tuesday, October 12, 2010.
In his presentation Benjamin reminded everyone that modern-day slavery is happening in Canada today and that human trafficking is happening in our backyards.
Participants were able to meet local organizations working to fight human trafficking and learn about what they could do to fight human trafficking in Canada.

Benjamin reminded those in attendance that we should not rely on governments alone to bring about change. It is up to us as individuals as well. He ended the evening offering practical steps we can take towards making positive change.
